The small but well furnished motel room is part of the Newdegate Myriadena Motel and Caravan Park where I was greeted by friendly
hosts, who had my room cool with air conditioner running. Very welcome on a hot day.
Motel rooms have a queen sized bed, as small bathroom, a small table and two chairs, with fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, with full settings of crockery and cutlery supplied.
Air conditioning, wall mounted television, and lots of power points.I paid $95 for the night
for a motel room.
Pets are permitted in the caravan park. There is a free barbecue under a pergola. Shower cubicles, although small, have
the shower head mounted from the side and a step down into the shower cubicle, both of which keep the dressing areas dry. Dressing
area has shelf and hooks. Wide vanity basins, and a trough for bathing young children. I did not inspect disability bathroom
as it was undergoing renovations. There is a laundry with washing machines and a dryer.
There is a very well equipped kitchen, which hosts also use to cook meals for those in cabins who want this service, eg those working
in contacts in town. This kitchen is available for motel guests to use.
Some road noise from grain trucks from early morning
into the evening. The caravan and cabin areas are further away from the road than the motel units.
In addition to the accommodation
options at Myriadena Motel and Caravan Park, the Newdegate Hotel in the main street of Newdegate provides basic rooms, with shared
bathrooms.
For out of town travellers, there are hot showers in the ladies and gents at the public toilet block opposite
the post office and adjacent to the roadhouse in Maley Street, the main road through Newdegate.
72 hour camping for self contained units in the town centre. There are hot showers in the adjacent toilet block at the Discovery
Zone, and a dump point. There is also car charging point for electric cars.
A modern fully serviced caravan park for which you name the price has 11 powered sites and a number of unpowered tent sites. There is a five day limit within any 28 day period for the ‘pay what you think it is worth’ offer. After this time limitation,
normal rates apply. Pets permitted. Payment by cash only if outside of Shire Council office hours.
Kulin Hotel has the charm of a country hotel from a bygone era. This rambling hotel old building has undergone internal
renovations, which retain its charm. Hotel rooms (shared bathroom) were quoted to me at $55 for a single person.
Not enough power points for the modern traveller meant I had to unplug television to use my laptop, and charge my phone in the bathroom. Fridge was old and internal freezer door was missing so the fridge was icing up. Kettle and toaster provided, but could not
fit kettle under bathroom basin tap to fill. The only utensils provided were two cups and saucers, teaspoons and two glasses. This meant getting a simple meal or even breakfast was virtually impossible. Meals can be arranged with hotel, and there is
a small Café adjacent to the units, in the main street.
Car parking at end of building, not in front of unit. Near
main street, but quiet overnight.
I paid $97 plus $1 credit card surcharge for a night at the motel unit.
