For those still using the 2g Telstra network, this will be shut down permanently on 1st December 2015.
If you are using
a 2g mobile phone it is time to upgrade now. If you have to change your SIM you can request to keep your number.
But
nobody uses 2g now do they?
Well I do.
But more than that, for those using tracking devices in their car or
caravan to notify and trace if stolen, many of these use the 2g network. Some of these devices are still being advertised for
sale.
While talking about tracking devices, if you intend to purchase one of these as expected security whilst travelling, check also that
it uses the Telstra 3g network. Some of these devices use Optus or Vodaphone, and coverage is space once you leave the more
heavily populated areas of the country.
Time to check you communications and tracking devices.
