·         Daily vehicle entry fees will increase by $1 per day across all the current price points across the 45 parks # that charge entry fees.  In most cases this is a rise from $7 to $8, and is payable daily, not just on entry to the park as in other states with entry fees.  Future increases will in annual and in line with the CPI. The majority of parks remain entry fee free, but the most popular are those with fees.  There are 850 National Parks and Reserves that do not have entry fees.

 

·         Daily vehicle entry fees to # Kosciuszko National Park during the declared ski season will increase by $2 per day from the 2016 June long weekend.

 

·        Broken Head Nature Reserve, Cape Byron State Conservation Area and Sydney Harbour National Park are currently charging an hourly entrance fee and these will remain the same. 

 

·         Annual Passes will not be changed by the 6 October 2015 increase but in future will be linked to the CPI  and increase accordingly. 

 

·        Full fee exemptions from NSW Park Pass payments remain for holders of a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, or a DVA EDA, TPI or TTI pension.  Application must be made to obtain this exemption. 

 

·        Camping fees will be increasing by 15%, an increase of between 50 cents and $3.50. 

 

·        For example, campgrounds with budget camping fees of $5 per person per night will be increased to $6 per person per night.

National Park entry and camping fees in New South Wales are set to increase on 6th October 2015

Further snow and ice has been reported on Tasmanian roads with closures and cautions.

Maguk in Kakadu National Park has RE-OPENED following closure due to a bushfire in the area commencing 21st September.

The waterholes at Berry Springs Nature Park will be closed for swimming for the duration of the wet season due to crocodile risk. All other facilities including walks at Berry Springs will remain open, but always be alert for crocodiles. Don't take risks with the lives of your family and yourself.  See more about crocodiles and the dangers they pose to the unwary or complacent.

A TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared over Southern Tasmania 14th October 2015 due to seasonal conditions and early wildfires.  Please report any fires sighted by phoning 000.

A TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared for the Northern Riverina in New South Wales today, Friday 16 October 2015.

Kakadu National Park seasonal closures
Barrk Marlam Walk and Twin Falls Escarpment Walk is CLOSED as at 4:00 pm, 16th October 2015 unless sudden heavy rains require the site to be shut earlier
 
Sandstone Barrk Walk (Nourlangie region)  is CLOSED as at  4:00 pm, 16th October 2015
To be re-opened once regular rainfall occurs.

All remaining sites at both Jim Jim and Twin Falls will CLOSE at 4:00 pm, 9 November 2015 unless sudden heavy rains require the site to be shut earlier.

After recent fires and seasonal conditions Jim Jim, Twin Falls, Koolpin Gorge and Graveside Gorge are now CLOSED for the season. 
 
Maguk and Gunlom remain OPEN.
 
The Gubara Road will be CLOSED for pre-wet season maintenance from 9th November for approximately two weeks
 
Closures due to fire threat in Kakadu National Park:
 
Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls remain CLOSED due to a bushfire. 
 
Gunlom RE-OPENED 3rd November 2015.
 
Campsites closed during a recent fire were RE-OPENED 27th October 2015:Malabandjbandju tent and caravan sites and Burdulba camping.
 
Guratba/Gimbat day area RE-OPENED 3rd November 2015.
 
Jarrangbarnmi (Koolpin Gorge) remains CLOSED.
 
Barrk Sandstone Walk (Nourlangie region) has RE-OPENED, 23rd December 2015 following rain. 
 
Nourlangie in Kakadu National Park was closed 6th October 2015 due to a bushfire in the area and has RE-OPENED 8th October 2015. The Gubara walking track and Nanguluwur art site walk have also been RE-OPENED.

Park seasonal and weather related closures Northern Territory and Western Australia
Northern Territory
In addition to closures of sites in Kakadu National Park as reported previously, Giwining/Flora River Nature Park is now closed for the wet season.
 
Western Australia
Purnululu National Park is now closed for the wet season, and Spring Creek Road is impassable.

·        Thomas River area including all camping areas, beach access and walk trails are open and fully functional

·        Seal Creek camp site and the commercial fishing camp is closed until further notice to allow rehab and rebuilding of these sites post fire recovery.

·         With the loss of Seal Creek Camp site, there are no 4 wheel drive accessible currently campsites available in the Poison Creek area.

·         Poison Creek beach is open for vehicular and beach camping will be temporarily permitted along the beach

·        Jorndee and Thomas Fishery are open to camping but have very limited capacity for camping

·        Rehabilitation and reinstatement of facilities will shortly commence and these works are envisaged to continue for twelve to twenty four month.

Litchfield National Park seasonal closures
Following heavy rainfall, the Reynolds four wheel drive track and visitor areas will now be closed for the duration of the wet season. This includes the Blyth Homestead, Tjaynera (Sandy Creek Falls and campground) and Surprise Creek Falls and campground.

In New South Wales, a Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Northern Riverina tomorrow, Wednesday 18th November due to forecast hot and windy conditions.

TOTAL FIRE BAN
 
A Total Fire Ban has been declared for Monday 23rd November 2015 for parts of the Perth Metropolitan Area, South West and Great Southern.
 
What does this mean for you?
 
• You must not light or use any fires in the open air
 
• All open fires for the purpose of cooking or camping are not allowed 
 
• Hot work such as metal work, grinding, welding, soldering, gas cutting or similar is not allowed unless you have an exemption
 
• You must not undertake any other activities that may start a fire.

For those still using the 2g Telstra network, this will be shut down permanently on 1st December 2015. 

 

If you are using a 2g mobile phone it is time to upgrade now.  If you have to change your SIM you can request to keep your number. 

 

But nobody uses 2g now do they? 

 

Well I do. 

 

But more than that, for those using tracking devices in their car or caravan to notify and trace if stolen, many of these use the 2g network.  Some of these devices are still being advertised for sale. 

 

What is happening with the Telstra 2g Network?

While talking about tracking devices, if you intend to purchase one of these as expected security whilst travelling, check also that it uses the Telstra 3g network.  Some of these devices use Optus or Vodaphone, and coverage is space once you leave the more heavily populated areas of the country.

New South Wales
 
UPDATED: 20th November 2015 there are total fire bans in the llawarra/Shoalhaven, Southern Ranges, and the Southern, Eastern and Northern Riverina areas today.
 
With extremes of weather, a number of National Parks in New South Wales have been closed due to fire risk, and fire bans are in place in a number of areas.
 
See chart Fire Danger Ratings and Total Bans to check the situation in your area.  There is a total fire ban across the Southern, Eastern and Northern Riverina today.

South Australia
 
UPDATED:  While inland areas have a severe fire warning today 20th November 2015, the southern parts of the state have a low to moderate fire risk. 
 
Most of the state has either a Catastrophic or an Extreme fire danger warning today 19th November 2015.
 
Catastrophic: North West Pastoral, Flinders, Mid North, and Riverland regions.
 
Extreme: North East Pastoral, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, and Murraylands regions.
