Heading north from Pingrup towards Lake Grace, the road is in close proximity to many salt lakes. A chain of salt pans runs
through Pingrup, commencing to the north of Jilakin near Kulin, through Lake Grace, and continuing some distance further south from
Pingrup. Some of these lakes can appear pink or various other shades of colours. Another line of lakes from Jilakin heads
to Newdegate and further south to Lake Magenta. These lakes are often dry or contain very little water.
From here I turned east to travel on gravel roads, to follow part of the Holland Track, which we had toured in 2007.
Roadside wildflowers were colourful, with many different varieties still flowering.
Holland Tank is at one of the water sources found by John Holland for travellers to the Goldfields. Here rainfall run-off from
an area of relatively flat granite rock is collected and conducted via a channel to a large tank by the road. This is available
to farmers for emergency livestock water in times of drought.
