Drinks and snacks as needed, and small plastic freezer bags for removing your
rubbish
Small binoculars depending on the type of walk
Take a satellite phone, SPOT messenger or PLB when hiking in
remote areas or difficult conditions.
You may also want tissues or toilet paper (put into your rubbish bag and take back with
you if used)
A small back pack is adequate for day walks. This list does not cover your needs if hiking involves overnight camping
When hiking you will need to carry at minimum some drinking water, and probably your camera
If one partner walks on their
own, each should have a hand held two-way with fully charged batteries, and both be certain of the channel you will use.
Depending
on grade of walk, possibly you will want to take a compass or hand held GPS
