Council owned small caravan park with a cheerful and helpful caretaker. Sixteen powered sites and a few unpowered tent sites. Level and well grassed sites, sullage points for hoses.
Although close to the Mitchell Highway, being on town and on a bend, truck travel slowly and without using air brakes, so the location is surprisingly quiet. Indian Pacific railway line is across the highway, but trains were not noisy.
Old amenities block has been updated and is very well appointed with extras like shower curtain and mat in dressing area provided. Well designed with shower heads set sideways plus a ledge so there is no splashing into dressing area. Basins, large mirrors and power points. Key required for access to amenities to prevent public access due to location. Box for leaving key on departure if caretaker not there.
Disability bathroom, but this was not inspected.
Laundry with two washing machines, dryer, ironing board and iron, all fee free.
Free electric barbecue in a roofed picnic area, with seating and a sink.
Cabins. Dump point. Pets permitted.
Molong has people who are approachable, friendly, and happy to talk to you; a pleasure to walk around this small town. Easy walk to main street alongside grocery store from the caravan park, and store is convenient for shopping being so close. We chose this pleasant environment rather than stay in Orange.
$22.50 per night with a pay for two and get third night free offer. While booking in for two nights, we took up the offer and did stay the third night, touring the Orange area from this very pleasant small park.
Pros: Cheerful welcome from caretaker to this pleasant park in a small town. Amenities very well designed and fitted out and kept clean. Laundry well equipped, and no cost to use machines or iron. Flat grassed sites. Some trees if shade preferred. Everything you need in this park. What more could you want?
Cons: Being located on the Highway and near rail line, there is some traffic noise, but this is not loud. Remember to take your key to the amenities block.

On the southern end of town, between the Castlereagh River and the Castlereagh Highway, this small council owned caravan park has been refurbished with a large new amenities block and laundry (opened two years ago but kept looking like new). Park is next to a Castlereagh Highway, so traffic noise cannot be avoided. It is also next to an aged care facility which has traffic coming and going.
Level grassed sites. Power outlet, tap, and sullage point at powered site and bins at powered and unpowered sites.
Amenities block and laundry have movement sensitive lights. Basins with large mirrors. Paper towels provided. A good number of showers and toilets, but showers have been constructed cheaply. With a large gap under walls between showers, water splashes and can flow into adjacent cubicles. No division, ledge or shower curtain to keep dressing area dry and no mat provided. Only one hook on door for clothes and towel. This otherwise lovely amenities block does not reach its potential due to design of shower cubicles and lack of touches like shower curtains, mats and adequate hooks.
A nice large disability bathroom.
New laundry is large and has bench space, two washing machines $4, two dryers $4, ironing board and iron, trolley and baskets.
Clothes hoists are old and dilapidated at the rear of the park heavily shaded under trees. Difficult to dry washing.
There are lots of old on-site vans giving a messy appearance. A few newer cabins.
Dump point, which is also available for public access. Pets permitted.
$25 powered and $18 unpowered for two.
Pros: Large modern amenities block and well equipped large laundry room. Movement sensitive lights in each. Level sites. Dump point, open to public. Friendly and helpful caretaker.
Cons: Showers have no curtains or mats, and the design allows the water to splash into the dressing area and into the next shower cubicle. Old and dilapidated clothes hoists which are under very shady trees. Traffic noise from highway.

This community managed park in Johnston Street is very well appointed. To pay, use envelopes provided at office and drop into slot as indicated, or wait until Caretaker comes around. When we stayed, one of the longer term caravanners was filling in as caretaker/cleaner and doing and excellent job. To find such good facilities in an outback community run caravan park was a pleasant surprise.
Grounds were clay but there were long concrete tracks to drive and park on plus a small concrete annex slab. These sites were nicely level, firm and clean, and the concrete would be a bonus if it rained. Some drive through sites.
Older amenities block donga style, nicely set up and maintained. New brick amenities block also good. Shower cubicles small, with ledge and shower curtain, mat shelf and hooks in small dressing area. Disability bathroom was in older block, but this was locked and not inspected.
Laundry with three washing machines $4 and two dryers $3, ironing board but no iron. Two troughs with hot and cold water.
Non potable water at sites.
Lovely large fully enclosed camp kitchen with lots of benches with seating. Fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery in kitchen area.
Barbecues in picnic shelter with additional picnic shelters around the campground.
Tiny cabin $35 per night BYO bedding.
Enclosed playground. Dump point. Pets permitted
$20 powered, $15 unpowered. Showers $1 for five minutes.
Pros: Has all the conveniences needed; hot showers with shower curtains and mats, laundry with hot water in troughs (unusual), large and fully equipped fully enclosed camp kitchen/recreation room. Level sites with concrete tracks.
Cons: In a dry area, sites are not grassed and it is not recommended to drink the scheme water.
