Big rig parking

Western Australia
New South Wales and ACT
Queensland
Victoria
Tasmania
South Australia
Northern Territory

If you cannot find somewhere big enough to legally park your car and caravan, motorhome or bus, you will not be able to stop and shop.  RV friendly towns are providing a signed parking area specifically for large vehicles and combinations.  Ideally these should be in easy walking distance from the centre of the town and main shopping areas.  They should also be drive through as turning a large rig in a partially filled car park can be very difficult.  Ideally signage should start at the entrance to the town.

Many towns have angle parking in their main street, and as this is unsuitable for larger vehicles, it is either a matter of parallel parking through a number of these if you can find them spare, or drive down a quiet side street, park there and walk back to the CBD.  Parallel parking in an area signed as angle parking can be considered a breach of parking regulations.

The following lists show where to park in towns that have adequate big rig parking.  This is not a complete list of towns with suitable parking as colllecting this information is not easy.  Most but not all of these parking areas listed here will be signed as caravan parking.
