The after effects of the storms and flooding early in June have resulted in many roads remaining closed with inundation or damage. On many more roads there are hazards.  Bridges have been damaged and there have been landslips.  This is particularly evident in the north of the island.

Roads recently CLOSED in Queensland - check before travelling
Organisers of the Birdsville Big Red Bash on the 4th to 6th July 2016 are confident that road conditions will allow everyone to get to the event.  The Venue has been changed from Big Red to Birdsville. 
Victoria: Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall/damaging winds for parts of eastern Victoria 
Severe weather has brought heavy rainfall to parts of Gippsland and eastern Victoria.  There is flooded and homes have been damaged. 
 
Numerous roads have been flooded in eastern Victoria. 
 
Update 8th July 2016.  With waters receding, there are no Major Flood Warning current.  Moderate and minor warnings remain for some rivers and streams.

Northern Territory
Jim Jim Falls OPENED 10th June 2016.  Twin Falls OPENED 9th July 2016.
 
Austral Downs Road and Murray Downs Road are OPEN with cautions or restricitons.  Ranken Road and Sandover Highway remain IMPASSABLE due to flooding.
 
Following storms in and around Alice Springs 17th June 2016, the following roads have been CLOSED due to flooding:
 
Arltunga Road  Between Ross Highway Intersection and Arltunga  NOW OPEN

N'Dhala Gorge Access Road  Between Ross River Ringwood Road and N'Dhala Gorge Carpark REMAINS CLOSED

Owen Springs Property Access  Between Larapinta Drive Intersection and Stuart Highway Intersection
 NOW OPEN
 
Southern parts of Litchfield National Park such as access and camping at Tjaynera and Surprise Creek remain CLOSED.

Queensland road conditions
Main highways through Queensland are open, with some minor road closures.  As roads are opening, cautions apply.
 
In South Western Queensland, there are still a number of unsealed roads remaining closed.

New South Wales
Some unsealed roads in North West New South Wales have restrictions. A number of local roads in the Central Darling (Wilcannia and Menindee), Carathool, Coonamble, Narrabri, Bogan (Nyngan), Walgett and Warren Shires remain CLOSED or have restrictions.
 
CAUTION water on roads between Dubbo and Narromine, and between Dubbo and Parkes.
 
Snow and ice CAUTIONS in the Kosciuszko National Park,with CLOSURES:
 
Between Perisher and Spencers Creek CLOSED.
Between Spencers Creek and Charlotte Pass CLOSED.
Between Khancoban and Carbramurra CLOSED.
Between Smiggin Holes and Guthega Link Road CLOSED.

Western Australia - rain in the Pilbara ALL CLEAR on notifications hereunder
North West Coastal Highway OPEN WITH CAUTION ten kilometres north of Wooramel Road House, Wooramel, water over road.
 
CAUTION Bindoon-Moora Road two kilometres North of Gillingarra Road, Gillingarra. Water over the road. 
 
With heavy rainfall across the south west and wheatbelt over the past few days, CAUTION when driving to watch for water on the roads.
 
The Tanami and Duncan Roads have been RE-OPENED 15th July 2016 with caution following rainfall. 
 
Gibb River Road CAUTION between Imintji and Mount Barnett wet and slippery surface due to recent unseasonal rainfall.  No tonnage restrictions in place.
 
Recent rain has caused road closures and cautions due to water on the  and the Nanutarra-Munjina Road.  Currently the Nanutarra-Munjina Road from Paraburdoo-Tom Price Road to Bingarn Road–Tom Price is now OPEN with caution.  From Bingarn Road to Auski Roadhouse is closed to light traffic and open to 4WD and trucks only. 
 
The Goldfields Highway between Wiluna and Meekatharra is now OPEN.  The Sandstone Meekatharra Road is now OPEN with CAUTION.

Northern Territory
Twin Falls OPENED 9th July 2016.  The causeway across Jim Jim is running at 750 millimetres so is open to high clearance four wheel drives with snorkel only.  What can you see and do at Twin Falls?  Follow our travelogues

It is rather cold in Tasmania
Snow falls have closed a number of roads and storms have left trees down.  Main roads includes are:
 
Huon Road, Strickland Avenue and Summerleas Road are now CLOSED due to heavy snow.
 
Mount Wellington can not be accessed from any direction.
 
Lyell Highway between Queenstown and Derwent Bridge
 
Murchison Highway Tullah – CLOSED between Cradle Mountain turn off and Tullah – Snow and ice and trees blocking the road
 
Mersey Main Road, Latrobe (from Frogmore Road). CLOSED due to flooding
 
River Road, Deloraine – Between Westbury Place and 175 River Road – CLOSED due to road flooded
 
Many roads remain closed due to loss of or bridge damage from the storms during June.
 
Cautions apply to many snow affected roads. 
 
Midlands Highway CAUTION due to ice in elevated areas

Updates for Tasmania
Major flood warning for Huon River.  CAUTION.  There is a large amount of water flowing over the Huon Highway in Huonville near the Caltex Service Station.
 
Update:  Bridge is now open to all traffic. The Huonville Bridge is now open to ONLY high clearance 4WD, buses and trucks. Any other vehicles wishing to travel North over the Huonville Bridge are advised to delay their travel.
