News from National Parks in Western Australia
Due to significant rainfall and subsequent high flow rates out of the Culham Inlet at Fitzgerald River National Park, access to the
eastern side of the park will remain CLOSED until further notice. People are urged to avoid the area, follow the advice of Parks
and Wildlife staff and observe signage. People already in the area should leave the park via the Hamersley North Road, which intersects
with the South Coast Highway.
Pinnacles Loop Road drive in Nambung National Park will be CLOSED from 7th September to 8th
September 2016 for maintenance. Pedestrians are still able to access the area.
Access to Oyster Stacks in the Cape Range
National Park will be CLOSED from 7th September to 8th September 2016 for road maintenance
A number of roads in the Fitzgerald
River National Park are CLOSED due to wet conditions. Caravans are not permitted on these roads at any time.
UPDATE
7th September 2016: Thomas River Road has been RE-OPENED. All roads and tracks in the Poison Creek area remain CLOSED until
further notice. Cape Arid National Park, Western Australia access road, Thomas River Road, has been CLOSED from
23rd August 2016 as a result of heavy and continuous rain.

There has been heavy rain across areas of South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania. Please use links
above to check road conditions if travelling in these areas.
Many unsealed roads in Central and Western New South Wales areCLOSED. Other roads have flooding cautions.
In Victoria there is widespread flooding and CLOSED roads. The
Great Ocean Road remains CLOSED due to land slips and flooding. Wye River and Separation Creek have been isolated.
InSouth Australia several roads near Adelaide have been CLOSED due to water damage and washouts. These include Adelaide to Mannum road
between chain of ponds and Gumeracha due to a land slip. The Montacute Road in the Adelaide Hills has washouts and is CLOSED. See all closures around Adelaide. Other CLOSED roads include parts of the Cordillo Downs Roads. The Birdsville Track and Oodnadatta
Track are now open for 4WD and heavy vehicles only.

Florence Falls Plunge Pool including the stairs and Shady Creek Walk will be CLOSED for upgrades to the stairs and water entry points
for approximately four weeks from 21st September. Visitors will still be able to access the Florence Falls lookout and enjoy
the Florence picnic area and Florence Creek above the falls. All other sites in Litchfield remain open to the public.

Road cautions and closures due to rain
Campgrounds and Parks in Victoria CLOSED due to flooding and damage
Recent heavy rainfall and severe weather across Victoria means several parks and campgrounds across the state are partially or fully
closed.
Parks affected include the Grampians National Park, Lower Glenelg National Park, reserves along the Murray River, Werribee
Gorge and Lerderderg state parks, Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park, Creswick Regional Park and Hepburn Regional Park.

Closures and
access are changing constantly so check the change of conditions listed under each individual parks webpage for the latest advice.
Visitor
areas will be reopened as floodwaters subside and the sites and assets are assessed for safety.

Are you travelling in Central Australia? Severe storm warning.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce DAMAGING WINDS in parts of the Simpson, north east Lasseter and southern
Tanami forecast districts.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
Secure loose outside objects.
Ensure
pets and animals are in a safe area.
Avoid remaining in the open when storms threaten.
Avoid driving into water of unknown depth and
current.

Northern Territory - ROPER HIGHWAY NOW OPEN
A temporary washout of the detour resulted in Wilton Crossing being CLOSED 7th October 2016.
ROPER HIGHWAY NOW OPEN: Roper
Highway is CLOSED 20th September 2016 due to heavy rainfall and flooding at the Wilton Crossing, the Roper Highway is CLOSED from
Roper Bar to Ngukurr.
With receding waters, a detour is being put into place at Wilton Crossing, which is expected to be open
by Saturday at the end of this week.

Walks and access re now OPEN
Walking tracks up the Carnarvon Gorge are currently CLOSED due to rain and high water levels, and
will be re-opened when checked and assessed as safe. This includes The Great Walk. Mount Moffatt section of Carnarvon
National Park is inaccessible to all vehicles. All walking tracks and camping areas are CLOSED 21st September 2016.

Newell Highway between Forbes and West Wyalong, the Lachlan Valley Way between Forbes and Cowra, as well as The Escort Way Forbes
to Eugowra are CLOSED due to flooding. The Newell Highway is also CLOSED two kilometres south of Gillenbah.

unsealed roads in Central and Western New South Wales are CLOSED. Other roads have flooding cautions.

New South Wales - Fire and Flood
While there are road closures in a number of areas across the inland and western New South Wales, the eastern and coastal
areas have been subject to many bushfires today. While most have been downgraded to Watch and Act or Advice notifications, roads
have been closed. This includes the Pacific Highway at Ravenswood Road Kundbung, and Buckets Way between Limeburners Creek and
the Pacific Highway. Update: The Pacific Highway opened late in the day.

In New South Wales total fire bans will be in place Friday 2nd December 2016, for the Northern Slopes, North Western, Hunter
and Sydney Metropolitan areas (Including the Central Coast and Blue Mountains).
1st December 2016
Storms through New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania have resulted in minor flooding.
A storm warning is still
current for the Mildura area.
Meanwhile as summer approaches there have been a number of fires in New South Wales and Western
Australia.
There are fire restrictions in Western Victoria.
In Western Australia there is a TOTAL FIRE
BAN for all regions of the state excluding the Kimberley and the Pilbara.
Fires in Western Australia today include
those near Hopetoun, Norseman, Wagin, Walpole and Denmark.
The road between Arthur River and Wagin is CLOSED due to a bushfire.
