These pages will
feature some of the wildflowers we have photographed in Western Australia, and where possible, identified. If you
are able to help identify further flowers, or correct any I may have wrong, please contact us.
Information given for each species
will give botanical name, known common names, describe the flower, give time of year it flowered, and where it was photographed, and
the areas it occurs in. Names have been matched to Florabase which has also been used to show distribution.

A small low growing paw shaped flower in shades of yellow and orange.

West regions.

Anigozanthos manglesii subsp. manglesii, Kangaroo Paw, Mangles Kangaroo Paw, Red and Green Kangaroo Paw, Kurulbrang (or Krulbrang,
Koroylbardang, Kuroolberny), Nollamara, or more recently Yonga Marra (which is using the Aboriginal words for Kangaroo Paw)
Green paw
shaped flower head with red stem through into base of flower, one per stem with several stems from a perennial plant with pointed
ribbon like leaves. Stamens are of equal length, arranged in a line. Grows to 1.1 metres.

Anigozanthos rufus, Red Kangaroo Paw, Yonger mar.
From a cluster of pointed ribbon like leaves on the ground, several stems branch
out with small dark red flowers. Spring
Munglinup, South Coast, Western Australia, found in the southernmost areas of the Great
Southern and Goldfields regions, from Albany to Esperance.
Anigozanthos flavidus, Tall Kangaroo Paw, Evergreen Kangaroo Paw
From a cluster of pointed ribbon like leaves on the ground (at
right), several tall stems branch out to carry many small flowers. Different groups can be green, yellow, red, orange or pink.
Early Summer
Bridgetown, South West, Western Australia. Can be found in the South West corner of the state, around Perth,
and in the lower Great Southern. Stands of Anigozanthos flavidus frequently occur in low lying or swampy areas.
Anigozanthos bicolor subsp. decrescens, Little Kangaroo Paw
Green paw shaped flower head with red stem through into base
of flower, one per stem with several stems from a perennial plant with pointed ribbon like leaves. Stamens are of unequal length,
arranged as an outward curve. Grows to half a metre.
Spring
Tonebridge (Boyup Brook shire area), South West Region,
Western Australia. Species found through the South West, and lower Great Southern Region around Albany.
Anigozanthos manglesii subsp. manglesii occurs south of Lancelin, with Anigozanthos manglesii subsp. quadrans occurring further north
of Lancelin to Shark Bay.
