These pages will
feature some of the wildflowers we have photographed in Western Australia, and where possible, identified. If you
are able to help identify further flowers, or correct any I may have wrong, please contact us.
Information given for each species
will give botanical name, known common names, describe the flower, give time of year it flowered, and where it was photographed, and
the areas it occurs in. Names have been matched to Florabase which has also been used to show distribution.

Tetratheca hirsuta Black Eyed Susan (at right and below)
Bright pink with dark pointed centre of fused stamens, dark base
of petals with a touch of red, five petals, several flowers along an upright stem with dark green leaves where the
stem divides into branches or flower stalks. Hairiness on stem and leaves. Leaves having an irregular edge.
October, Late Spring
Bridgetown, South West Region, Western Australia and ranges from around and to the north of Perth, the South
West region and lower Great Southern to Albany
Tetratheca species with leaves group in threes along the stem, some hairiness (at right and below).
Tetratheca of the
south west that have hairiness of stems and foliage include Tetratheca hirsuta, Tetratheca setigera which is bristly and Tetratheca
hispidissima which has very hairy stems and leaves. Tetratheca parvifolia is a priority flora with only a limited range does
not occur in the Bridgetown area where the flowers below were found.
Tetratheca setigera
Bright pink with dark pointed centre of fused stamens, five petals, several flowers along an upright
stem with dark green leaves elongated bristly leaves. Bristles along stem and leaves.

Bridgetown,
South West Region, Western Australia and occurs in the South West region and lower Great Southern regions.
Tetratheca virgata
Bright pink with a dark centre and a ring of bunched together stamens surrounded by red at the base of the
four petals. Several flowers along upright stems coming from the base of the bush, with short narrow foliage sparsely
along the stalks.
From a different site, flowers and foliage at right are quite dense,

Western Australia and occurs in the inland parts of the South West region and adjoining parts of the Wheatbelt and Great
Southern regions.
Tetratheca affinis Tetratheca
Bright pink with dark pointed centre of fused stamens, five petals, several flowers along upright
thickened leaf free stem as shown at left. Flowers point down to the ground, so the photo above left has the flower tipped
up to see the face
Late Winter, Spring, and early Summer, with the flowers persisting over a long flowering season

Tetratheca (species unidentified)
Bright pink with a long pointed centre of fused stamens, four or five petals, several
flowers along slender and sprawling branching leafless stems. Flowers point down to the ground, so the photos at left have
the flower tipped up to see the face.
