Albany, Western Australia - revisited

750xbanner_siesta_img_1219c.jpg
"Siesta" is one of many wood carvings on display at Darrel Radcliffe's Albany property
A beautiful new carving of an elegant lady (above left).  Look for it on you right as you start your drive.  A flautist on a log is 'Carving out a Tune' (above right).
From cockies high in the trees to reptiles on the ground, there are carvings every way you look

A new feature we had not seen before was Darrel Radcliffe’s property with his chainsaw carvings lining a drive-around loop road and into the bushland in this natural setting.   There were numerous carvings of people, birds, animals and reptiles. The newer carving showed the rich colours of the timber, which were mostly Jarrah.  Older pieces had faded to the grey of weathered and sun-bleached dry wood.

Members of the public are welcome to drive through, and leave a donation of what they feel the display was worth.

Turn in the driveway when you see this letterbox along Mercer Road.

Some of the carvings seen displayed here.

Look for the expressions on the faces of the cat and the dog (above left).  Emerging from the log is a figure called Sleepy Forest (above right).
A lady hugs her horse amidst many other statues (above left).  Upturned tree branches topped with carved Giraffe heads created a family of Giraffes (above right).
Pelicans (above left).  A fairyland tree house (above centre).  An eagle guards babies in the nest in this carving, set into and framed by a log (above right).
A huge March Fly has been created from carving timber (above left).  An eagle with babies at foot with other carvings beyond (above right). There are metal emus between this eagle nd a pelican.  Look for the clock in the background.
A group of sad faced monks (above left).  An Indian Chief is flanked by stumps topped with flying eagles (above right).
