Those who came to the Western Australian goldfields hoping to make a fortune had a hard and often very short life.  In 2007 we followed some of the historic trails including parts of the Holland Track, which cut a more direct line from the port of Albany to the Goldfields near Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie.  The history of the Woodlines which brought timber to fuel the smelters and cooking fires in the miner’s shacks is an equally fascinating journey.
