Tin Horse Highway, Kulin, Western Australia
Some of the many weird and wacky creations featuring a horse theme along what has become known as the Tin Horse Highway, to the west
of Kulin, Western Australia
Soon after the Kulin Race Day was commenced as an annual event, the idea of tin horses to promote the race day held at Jilakin was
devised. The first tin horses appeared in 1994, and they have proved to be such a tourist drawcard, that the numbers grow every
year.
For around fifteen kilometres east of Kulin, novelty horses have been made from junk and displayed in paddocks alongside
the road.
With a wide verge in most places, I was able to stop and pull off the road to photograph a number of their weird and
wonderful creations when passing traffic, which was mainly road trains carting grain, allowed. This is known as the Tin Horse
Highway, and new statues are still being added. There are further horses to the west of Kulin, known as West Kulin Tin Horses,
but that was not on my route.
Old motor cycle and quad cycle have been used in this display at left of "Horsome Fun" with horses Tom and Hick horsing around.
