Farina once supported two hotels and two breweries.
The Exchange Hotel ruins. This operated as a Hotel from 1880 – 1937. It is currently undergoing restoration. In 2017 an underground bread baking oven was uncovered behind the hotel and this is

This large building was originally the Transcontinental Hotel from 1878 - 1928. It was then operated as a bush nursing post
to 1945. It became a boarding house until its closure in 1955.
The original plan for the rail line from Port Augusta to Darwin was initiated in the 1870s.
Sheep and cattle loading. Farina boasted of being a major livestock shipping location on the Alice Springs - Adelaide Old Ghan Railway. The sheep holding yards were extensive and are on the South side of the line behind the loading ramp.
The cattle years
to the right and extend back towards the railway bridge. Remnants of the holding yards and watering troughs are still evident. The cattle loading ramp has been re-constructed, with a bogie cattle wagon placed in the loading position.
Site of All Saints Anglican Church 1886 - 1967, with bell tower standing.
'New' Police Station 1935 to the station closure in 1950 (above), which replaced the ‘Old’ Police Station (below).
The Farina railway precinct extends in a northerly direction to the creek on two steel bridges spanning the floodplain of Farina Creek.
The standard gauge Farina Railway Bridge was built in the 1950s when the new standard gauge railway was re-routed to higher
ground to prevent flooding of the line. With safety fencing, you can walk part way along this bridge.
The narrow
gauge crossed the creek on lower level, 100 metres to the east. That bridge is now derelict.
The line closed in
the 1980s, after which the town became deserted.
