Free camping and low cost camping places we have enjoyed in Victoria
Victorian Rest Areas on main routes are listed with RACV, with the following caution
Saw Pit camp, Mount Clay Forest Four kilometres north west of Narrawong via Narrawong and Boyers Roads in south west Victoria is
a lovely large flat free camp in the forest, with pit toilets and fire places on the site of a historic saw pit. Worth staying
to enjoy a couple of days in the park. Lookout over the coast once used as a whale spotting point for Whaling Boats is a short
walk fom the campground. Visited 2006

Camping fees implemented or increased on 1st July 2014 for Victorian national and states parks campgrounds have brought many of the
fee charging parks out of the range reasonable camping. A fee of $37.80 (peak period) for a campground which may have little
more than a pt toilet is not comparable to a serviced caravan park site at a similar fee. See News
Overnight camping in rest areas is prohibited in many states and territories, while others impose time limits. Check signs at the
area, and if in doubt, check with the authority responsible for the area.
