These pages will
feature some of the wildflowers we have photographed in Western Australia, and where possible, identified. If you
are able to help identify further flowers, or correct any I may have wrong, please contact us.
Information given for each species
will give botanical name, known common names, describe the flower, give time of year it was seen, and where it was photographed, and
the areas it occurs in. Names have been matched to Florabase which has also been used to show distribution.

Glischrocaryon flavescens Popflower, Golden Pennants, Pale Yellow Pop-flower
Pale yellow cluster on a branched stem, and four-winged seed
pods (poppers). Little or no foliage
Spring
Marchagee Nature Reserve, Wheatbelt and found through the Wheatbelt, Mid West, Great
Southern and Goldfields regions.
Gompholobium capitatum Yellow Pea
A medium sized yellow pea flowers in small clusters on a shrub with light coloured needle shaped leaves,
and hairy leaves and buds

Bridgetown, South
West Region, Western Australia, and confined to the south west corner of the state between Perth and Albany
Glischrocaryon aureum, Common Popflower
Yellow cluster on a long stem, and four-winged seed pods (poppers).
Little or no foliage

Bridgetown, South West Region, Western Australia and occurs through area a large area of the state, from
Shark Bay southwards, including the South West, Great Southern, Perth, Wheatbelt, Mid West and Goldfields regions, with scattered
occurrences through the desert areas.
Geranium retrorsum, Common cranesbill, Grassland cranesbill
pale mauve or pink five petalled flowers on a prostrate plant
with jagged leaves.
October November
Bridgetown, South West Region, Western Australia and found through the South
West and Perth regions, and Great Southern region, and in coastal areas from Perth to Esperance and beyond.
Glischrocaryon angustifolium, Popflower
Yellow cluster on a long stem branching to flower heads. Four-winged seed
pods (poppers). Some stems with narrow leafed foliage up the stem in the clump
November
Newdegate, Wheatbelt Region, Western
Australia and occurs through area a large area of the state, from Shark Bay southwards, including the South West, Great Southern,
Perth, Wheatbelt, Mid West and Goldfields regions, with scattered occurrences through the Pilbara and desert areas.
Gompholobium burtonioides
Small sized yellow pea flowers in clusters towards the top of the stems, on a shrub with narrow leaves. Wings
and keel held together pointing outwards. Hairy buds. Round seed pods forming in photo above right

Tonebridge (Boyup Brook),
South West Region, Western Australia, and found in inland parts of the South West, and in the lower Great Southern to the coast
Gilberta tenuifolia (formerly Helipterum verecundum).
A small low growing shrub with tiny yellow or yellow and red flowers; A white
funnel shaped rear of flower with a circle of short yellow or red petals, and a bunch of golden yellow stamens in the centre. Short narrow leaves pointing upwards close to the stem.
August
Bunjil Rocks, Perenjori shire, Mid West region, Western Australia
and found from Shark Bay in the Gascoyne region, through the Mid West, the northern and central Wheatbelt south to Kulin, and the
northern Goldfields from Laverton to Kalgoorlie.
Geleznowia verruscosa, Yellow Rose, Yellow Bells.
A bright yellow five petalled flower, surrounds by larger pale yellow sepals
then yellow green bracts, giving a multi-layered look, like a rose. A shrub up to 1.5 metres with stems covered by short oval
leaves.
September
Mid West region, and found from Shark Bay in the Gascoyne region, through the coastal Mid West, and reaching
into the northern Wheatbelt.
Glycine canescens, Silky Glycine
A small purple pea flower with green eye-like spots at flower centre. A twining or scrambling
vine. Leaves are three part, with each narrow and terminating in a point. Foliage and stems are hairy.
August
Bunjil Rocks, Perenjori
shire, Mid West region, Western Australia, and occurs through the northern Wheatbelt, Mid West, Gascoyne, Pilbara, and Goldfields
regions, and has been found in the Kimberley near Fitzroy Crossing. It can be found in most mainland states.
