These pages will
feature some of the wildflowers we have photographed in Western Australia, and where possible, identified. If you
are able to help identify further flowers, or correct any I may have wrong, please contact us.
Information given for each species
will give botanical name, known common names, describe the flower, give time of year it flowered, and where it was photographed, and
the areas it occurs in. Names have been matched to Florabase which has also been used to show distribution.

Gompholobium ovatum
Medium (1 - 2 centimetres across) red to dark orange blooms with a black and yellow centre on a
low growing plant. Oval leaves, but continuing to a point (above)

Bridgetown, South West region, Western Australia
found through the South West, Great Southern and near to coast from Perth To Bremer Bay
Gompholobium marginatum
Very small yellow pea flowers up to one centimetre wide on a prostrate plant with oval leaves
in trios. A reddish-brown margin can be seen around the edges of the foliage, and a thorn on tip of each leaf.
Round seed pods typical of Gompholobium species shown at right.
October November and also seen in January
Bridgetown, South West
Region, Western Australia and found through the South West, Great Southern and Wheatbelt, and in coastal areas from Geraldton
to Esperance.
Gompholobium confertum, Purple Heath Pea, Coastal Purple Pea
A cluster of lilac to purple pea flowers around the top of a plant with
fine needle like leaves up the stem

Busselton area, South West Region, Western Australia and ranges in areas near the
coast from Dongara to Esperance, and further into the Great Southern and South West regions
Gompholobium polymorphum, Yellow Pea, Bright Yellow Pea, Twining Gompholobium
A medium sized bright all yellow pea flower around
two to three centimetres across on a prostrate or climbing plant with needle pointed tip slightly flattened leaves.
Straggly low bush or can be a twiner or climber. Also orange and pink variations (below).
Late Spring, Early Summer
Yellow flowers,
Bridgetown, orange and pink flowers, Boyup Brook, South West Region, Western Australia, and ranges from the Perth region, through
the South West and lower Great Southern region and along the south coast to Esperance.
